Job Title: Sr User Researcher

We have an exciting remote opportunity for a Sr User Researcher on a long-term contract! Our client is looking for an enthusiastic Senior User Researcher with expertise in qualitative and mixed methods to join our highly respected internal practice. The Technology, Product & Experience (TPX) Research team conducts various UX and design research techniques to gather data and develop insights critical to improving our customer's experience. We enjoy great flexibility and autonomy in scoping and shaping the research approach for each initiative we support. Our work touches multiple platforms, including digital interfaces (online, mobile, and TV), physical and printed materials, hardware, and service design.

Sr User Researcher Key Responsibilities:

User Research Facilitation and Synthesis (90%)
  • Partner with design and product stakeholders to elicit research questions and goals
  • Design qualitative and mixed-method UX research studies that span the product lifecycle from discovery to usability
  • Recommend appropriate methodologies, draft and present research plans.
  • Lead primary research studies from end-to-end, including screener development, moderation, analysis and reporting.
  • Deliver data and insights in a variety of formats - one-pagers, toplines, presentations, working sessions - to maximize impact and facilitate application of insights.
  • Perform activities such as heuristic reviews, industry and market research summaries and competitive reviews.
  • Contribute to development of UX models and frameworks based on direct user evidence.
  • Encourage members of design, business, and product teams to be involved as partners in studies to gain first-hand knowledge of user behaviors, mental models and needs.
Research Practice Development (10%)
  • Contribute to a team toolkit of research methods, techniques and publications that showcase subject matter expertise.
  • Maintain currency with the UX research field; share industry knowledge and best practices.
  • Ensure a positive, collaborative cross-functional team atmosphere.

UX/UI Designer II Education and Experience:
  • Degree in Psychology, Anthropology, Human-Computer Interaction, Interaction Design, Digital Media, Human Factors, Cognitive Science related discipline or equivalent experience. Masters degree a plus.
  • 3-5 years experience planning, conducting, analyzing and reporting on user studies for discovery and evaluation; excellent moderation skills.
  • Expertise with a range of user research methods used to gather qualitative and quantitative data (discovery & strategic research, contextual interviews, formative and summative usability testing, focus groups, diary studies, card sorting, co-creation techniques, survey design, secondary research analysis, competitive analysis, etc.)
  • Experience with remote usability tools such as or UserZoom a plus.
