Managing Editor (Remote)

Compensation Range: $70,000 - 90,000 per year

Our client is looking to hire a Managing Editor with a high degree of professionalism and a service mindset to contribute content to their magazine and digital platforms. The ideal candidate is intellectually curious and highly organized, has a background as a journalist, and has experience in business writing.

This position is fully remote.
 
Responsibilities:

  • Make sure that the tone of voice and writing style used across all content platforms align with the brand.
  • Create web-based journalistic articles and craft more extensive, in-depth pieces specifically tailored for publication in the print magazine.
  • Revise sponsored content intended for publication on the website.
  • Oversee the editing, proofreading, and production workflow of the magazine and weekly newsletter to guarantee precision and timely delivery.
  • Compose and revise video content and scripts, participate in videos, and moderate panels both in-person and remotely at various events.
  • Produce written content for on-site events, which may require occasional travel of 3-5 times per year, or as necessary.
  • Foster a positive working relationship with team members and service providers, ensuring effective collaboration and cooperation.
  • Fulfill additional responsibilities as instructed or delegated.

Qualifications:

  • Experience level: Experienced
  • Education: Bachelors
  • At least five years' experience as a writer and/or editor including at least two years of experience as a journalist.
  • Experience writing about business.
  • Knowledge of the banking industry is preferred.
  • Strong writing, copy editing and project management skills.
  • Knowledge of AP Style.
  • Willing to work under tight deadlines while still providing a high degree of service and professionalism.
  • Strong communication skills, time management and organizational skills, and the ability to collaborate with a team.
  • The position includes some night and weekend work, generally when onsite at conferences.
