Compensation Range: $37 - 42 per hour

We are seeking a temporary Technical Designer to join our retail client's team in Framingham, MA!

In this role, you will develop and maintain standards for a specific classification of soft home goods, ensuring all products meet established quality and value benchmarks. This role involves approving product standards and collaborating with Agents, Buyers, Vendors, and other internal teams to uphold and enhance product quality. The ideal candidate has a keen eye for detail, a passion for quality, and the technical expertise to develop top-notch soft home goods.
 
Responsibilities:

  • Develop and communicate standards and specification requirements to vendors based on design concepts, using technical reports with clear descriptions of construction, detailed sketches, specific measurements, and graded specifications.
  • Collaborate with agents and factories to ensure all product specifications meet the company's sizing and construction standards.
  • Review production samples from vendors for compliance with construction standards and sizing.
  • Recommend changes to products to ensure shipments meet specifications.
  • Approve specifications for bulk production.
  • Meet regularly with the Product Development Team to promptly resolve problems or concerns.
  • Resolve issues as they arise in a timely manner.
  • Approve or reject fit and production samples.
  • Prioritize workload effectively.
  • Make specification and construction changes on new products.
  • Act with integrity in all tasks and recommendations.
  • Suggest methods to improve product quality, construction, and standards.

Qualifications:

  • Experience level: Experienced
  • Degree in Fashion Design or equivalent work experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in spec'ing, fitting, and grading garments, particularly soft home goods.
  • Strong technical background and experience in grading/pattern making.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and PLM software.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of product specifications, including clothing construction and grading.
  • Understanding of product testing standards and protocols.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and follow-through skills.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Good math skills.
  • Highly skilled in garment fit evaluation.
  • Ability to lead a team and handle multiple projects.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
