Job Title: UX Content Strategist
Location: Washington, District of Columbia
Type: Freelance / Contract
Our client in downtown Washington DC is looking for a UX Content Strategist for an ongoing full time contract. This role will begin remote due to the pandemic but is expected to be on site in downtown DC eventually. We are looking for an experienced content strategist skilled in UX writing for digital products as well as presentation and report writing. You will help our client's designers and design strategists by thinking through best practices for laying out content, writing content specific to personas or other design deliverables, telling effective stories with our research, and stepping up our overall content game.

This candidate must be commutable to downtown DC.
UX Content Strategist Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with designers and design strategists to develop compelling content for research reports, presentations, and overall communication materials of our work
  • Create content for multiple digital products from concept validation to the build stage
  • Translating complex ideas into understandable concepts using plain language to design end-to-end user experiences
  • Advocating for our customers and consumers through human-centered design methods, ensuring deliverables speak their language
  • Championing design-centered approaches grounded in research and analysis, and always representing the perspective of content strategy 
  • Working with the team to understand customer needs and define storytelling opportunities 
  • Framing problems, defining insights, and designing new methodologies/practices to serve customer needs
  • Creating new content experiences, and leading others in the process
  • Ensuring all content is clear, easy to understand, and written in natural language
  • Collaborating with other writers, UX designers, and visual designers to contribute to our internal design system, content strategy community of practice, best practices, and guidelines
UX Content Strategist Requirements: 
  • BA/BFA Degree in English, Creative Writing, Screenwriting, Journalism, Marketing, Communications, or a design/writing-related field required
  • Graduate degree (preferred): MFA / MA / MBA / MPS in Design, Creative Writing, Technical Writing, Journalism
  • 4+ years’ experience in content strategy for design research projects, digital content design, and UX writing, with high attention to detail and ability to balance multiple workstreams at once
  • Experience working on a customer experience team
  • Experience in financial services or another industry that is complex, multi-channel, and regulated preferred
  • Proven track record of defining, testing, iterating on, and delivering best in class digital content and experiences
  • Familiarity with information architecture practices and the creation of content taxonomies
  • Familiarity with working in an established design system
  • Experience with UX, Service Design, Design Thinking and/or Qualitative Research techniques and methods preferred 
  • Portfolio is required
