Our client, a leading off-price retailer of apparel and home fashions worldwide, is seeking a talented and experienced Technical Designer to join their growing team!

As a Technical Designer, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring that all garments meet established quality standards. You will develop and communicate fit and specification requirements to vendors, working diligently to maintain precise construction, detailed sketches, specific measurements, and graded specifications. Collaborating with various departments and stakeholders, your primary focus will be on approving the correct fit for all garments, emphasizing quality, and ensuring value for customers.
 
Responsibilities:

  • Develop fit and specification requirements based on design concepts and communicate them effectively to vendors via technical reports with detailed construction descriptions, sketches, measurements, and graded specifications.
  • Collaborate with agents and factories to ensure all garment specifications align with the company's sizing and construction standards.
  • Review fit/production samples received from vendors, ensuring compliance with construction, fit, and sizing standards. Recommend necessary changes to meet specifications.
  • Approve specifications for bulk production and manage fit sessions using Alva forms to assess garment specifications and execution.
  • Work closely with Product Development Team members to resolve any problems or concerns promptly, ensuring timely resolutions.
  • Prioritize workload effectively, making specification and construction changes on new garments as needed.
  • Uphold integrity while approving or rejecting fit and production samples, recommending methods to enhance garment construction and quality.

Qualifications:

  • Experience level: Experienced
  • Bachelor's degree in Fashion Design or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in spec'ing, fitting, and grading Misses, Men's, or Children's garments.
  • Strong technical background in grading/pattern making and proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and PLM software.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of garment specifications, including clothing construction, grading, etc.
  • Familiarity with garment testing standards and protocols, with strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Effective communication and mathematical skills, along with the ability to evaluate garment fit effectively.
  • Proficient in managing multiple projects, exhibiting strong leadership and interpersonal skills in a team-oriented environment.
